Empower Badminton is an initiative of Play Badminton Club (a Badminton England affiliated club), that aims to make badminton more accessible to though with physical and non-physical disabilities.
Play Badminton Club are an inclusive club and take on players of all abilities regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs. Membership of the Club is open to anyone (who has a legal right to be in the UK) and is interested in playing badminton, on application and subject to spaces available.
Our coach
Ashish Patani
Ashish is hugely passionate about badminton, a sport which he believes can have transformative impact of individuals through both physical and mental wellbeing. Ashish is a qualified Level 2 Badminton coach, first aider and a Level 3 Personal Trainer.
Between 2023-2025, Ashish was appointed by Badminton England as a Regional Disability Coach for London and South East. In 2025, Ashish was appointed by Sense, a national charity for those with complex disabilities, as a Sensory Badminton Coach, and worked with Everyone Active, to deliver weekly badminton sessions for those with complex disabilities.
Ashish is also a qualified first aider.
