Disability Junior Championship

The 2024 Disability Junior Championship is open to all:

  • Secondary aged children (ages 9 to 16 years) with a physical disability, including wheelchair users;
  • Open to new players (boys and girls) that have never played badminton before;

Please note, in matches, badminton court boundaries will be adapted depending upon the nature of physical disability.

Crucially, it's important to highlight that this initiative is entirely cost-free for children to enter, underscoring its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.

Background to Championship

In 2023, Badminton England proudly launched a groundbreaking initiative aimed at elevating the visibility of badminton among secondary school-age pupils with physical disabilities. The resounding success of the program has fuelled a commitment from Badminton England to make 2024 an even more significant year for this cause.

This year, the initiative is poised to be larger, more impactful, and extend its reach to positively influence the lives of a greater number of students with physical disabilities across the UK. Supported by the GB Para Badminton Squad & Coaches, the national competition structure is designed not only to engage new disabled players but also to provide them with their initial exposure to disability competition, fostering increased participation.

Crucially, it's important to highlight that this initiative is entirely cost-free for children to enter, underscoring its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
